Before I went with my family on a 5-day cruise on May 1, I was experiencing hip joint discomfort. It is a recurring issue I’ve had with arthritis that began around 1992. My first episode was lower back pain. The second, between 1993 and 1994, was my neck vertebrae. The second arthritis episode was the worst. I was out of work for a week with excruciating neck pain.

I resolved those 2 arthritis episodes by cutting back on my protein and dairy; in other words, by controlling my diet. But just before I retired from Federal government service in 2004, I began experiencing hip joint issues. So prior to my departure on the cruise, my concern was that I would be eating too much food including protein and dairy on the ship, and my hip discomfort would spin out of control ruining my expensive cruise vacation.

On the ship, I ate large breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals every day. The lunch and dinner meals included tasty desserts. I also ate a lot of salad stuff. To my amazement, by the second day my joint issues disappeared. So what happened?

As best as I can figure, I was eating large portions of protein with small portions of carbohydrates. The meals were a cross between the Dr. Atkins “Atkins Diet,” and Dr. Sears “Zone Diet.” The cruise chefs did an awesome job of preparing healthy meals that are nutritious and help to control one’s weight.

What I did not do was snack at the less formal buffet style dining area where food was available almost all day long. I also shied away from the hamburgers, pizza, and sticky buns available until 2:00AM. The truth is that with all the activities on-board the ship, we were rushing to get ready for each of the 3 main meals in the formal dining room and did not have time to eat anywhere else.

I will spend the next few months experimenting with smaller portions of the same macronutrient balance I was served on the ship to determine what types of more common food combinations prevent arthritis. In the meantime, suffice it to say that you should eat more salad stuff, adequate amounts of protein, and fewer carbohydrates than you are accustomed to in order to maintain healthy joints throughout your lifetime.

I plan to complete my research on arthritis prevention and document the results with an easy to follow Plan in one of my future publications. The book should be posted on my website, HealthAnalysis.com, in early to mid-2011.

Note: I do not recommend that the Atkins or Zone diets be followed exclusively all day long for long periods of time. They each target a specific metabolic process in the body without regard to other important metabolic processes.

On January 25, 2009, the TV program “60 Minutes” aired a presentation on Resveratrol. They explained how Resveratrol slows down the aging mechanism of the Sirtuan Gene. The connection was made between the aging mechanism of the Sirtuan Gene and the aging mechanism of humans. In conclusion, the discoverer of Resveratrol (Dr. David Sinclair) said he was working on a tablet form of Resveratrol that will make it available for people to live to be 120 years of age.

What Dr. Sinclair did not mention during the program is that he has already produced a liquid version of Resveratrol that contains 98% pure Resveratrol with highly antioxidant polyphenols (both found in the Muscadine grape) that makes the product 10 times more effective than other Resveratrol products found in the marketplace. Dr. Sinclair’s version of Resveratrol lowers glucose, blood pressure, and cholesterol.

If you want to wait for the pill form of Resveratrol, you will have to wait until 2014, or thereabouts. If you don’t wish to wait, then you can have the liquid form of Resveratrol today by:

I refer to hair graying as an aging indicator. That’s because, as one gets older, it is expected that the hair starts to go gray and gets more gray as time passes. Because it is an aging indicator, I have targeted gray hair as one of my reversing aging studies.

As with hair growth, where I have identified the lifestyle activites that reverse “hair loss” and help to re-grow and maintain a full head of hair, I plan to identify the lifestyle activities that help to reverse graying and maintain the natural color of the hair. This may sound like a daunting task. However, I believe that it is not.

It stands to reason that if preventing/reversing graying hair is a lifestyle issue, just as hair growth has proven to be, then the hair growth principles covered in my book titled, “HealthAnalysis Hair Growth System (HGS)” provides the foundation upon which to build the preventing/reversing graying hair principles.

I began my trial and error testing to stop my hair from graying further in 2008. During the last 1-1/2 years, I have noted a few tips that can help you reverse graying and/or maintain the natural color of your hair. I provide them with this caveat: Since I have not completed my lifestyle tests, your success with reversing graying hair using the following tips may be limited.

1. Reduce your intake of sugar to little to none. Foods containing sugar are: Cookies, pastries, and pies. In addition, there is “hidden” sugar in many processed foods in the form of ”high fructose corn syrup.” Read labels before buying food items so you will make the best food choices.

2. Walk, wash the car(s), or vacuum in the evening after dinner for about 1 hour atleast 4 times a week. See my Metabolic Calculator and choose activities that are in the Level 3 and 4 categories.

3. Read before bedtime instead of watching television, or listen to relaxing music for atleast 1/2 hour.

4. Take a high quality multivitamin tablet once a day. You can also add to your supplementation regimen: B Complex, Stress tablets, and Vitamin C. Go to my website HealthAnalysis.com, click on Jorge Lugo, Search: ”vitamins.”

It took me over 40 years of reading, observation, conducting interviews, and tests to develop a plan that I guarantee will stop hair loss and re-grow and maintain a full head of hair. Consequently, it will take some time for me to develop a plan that I can guarantee will reverse the hair graying process. However, because the work I completed on hair growth already provides the basic lifestyle practices that promote the reversal of hair graying and the maintenance of the natural color of the hair, it should take me no more than 2 years to develop my reversing hair graying plan.

Resistance training, or working out with weights, is a stressful activity. By definition, stressful activities are bad for hair growth. However, there are men and women who routinely workout with weights and resistance machines and don’t feel stressed at all.

So what is the difference? The difference is these men and women enjoy their workouts with weights. As for me, weight training is a necessary activity that I need to do in order to maintain muscle tone and strength, bone density, higher metabolism, and produce growth hormones. This all sounds great. However, I don’t enjoy weight training. Therefore, it is a stressful activity for me. Because it is stressful for me to engage in weight lifting, it causes my hair to thin.

So what do I do about that? I go back to my hair growth basics and follow the hair growth principles in my book, “HealthAnalysis Hair Growth System (HGS),” more closely. In so doing, I compensate with more hair growth producing exercise activities and diet practices. And it works for me every time.

This past year, I embarked on an aggressive bodybuilding program. I was building muscle mass and was very happy with the progress I was making. Unfortunately, within the 6 months (May through December 2009) that I spent bodybuilding, I also watched my hairline thin at my forehead, and begin to break up. I tried to compensate by walking more as part of my weight lifting routine, but it wasn’t enough.

It turns out that I was not spending enough time on my work out sessions. But how much time is enough to build muscle and at the same time grow hair? In my book, I cover the story of Dave C. Dave worked out routinely with weights and had the hairline of a 12 year old. Dave’s success with hair growth was due to his worked out sessions being several hours long 6 days a week. I don’t have that kind of time to devote to bodybuilding or hair growth. I suspect that most of you out there don’t have the time either.

Because weight lifting is not my focus, I decided to follow a different strategy. I went back to my book and began to follow my own plan more closely. As a result, my hairline has stabilized and I am re-growing my hair to the thickness it was before I began lifting weights. Once my hair thickens sufficiently, I will begin longer workout sessions so I can lift weights and build muscle mass while continuuing to grow and maintain a great hairline.

How much time will I need to spend working out to accomplish both objectives? My book (HGS) provides step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish hair growth with a minimal amount of time exercising. The step-by-step instructions allow you to develop a program tailored to meet your exercise and hair growth needs. I will return to weight lifting soon, and with the help of my book will spend the least amount of time exercising while achieving an impressive muscle tone and a great hairline.

For a copy of my book titled, “HealthAnalysis Hair Growth System (HGS),” visit www.HealthAnalysis.com.

In the late 1970s, I heard of a woman in Pennsylvania that claimed to have found the answer to baldness. In other words, she had a plan with a process that will start anyone on the road to re-growing the hairline of their youth. I remember thinking that my dream of discovering the “cure for baldness” was dashed. But the good news for me is: I never heard another word about this woman again. I never heard anything more in the media, nor by word of mouth, about her.

The response from most people hearing that someone has the “cure for baldness” is skepticism. The thought that someone can make such a bold claim is dismissed as nonsense because they have a deeply rooted belief that hair loss is hereditary. But to me, she inspired me to continue working towards discovering and documenting a process for growing and maintaining a full head of hair. After all was said and done, I made the assumption that she did discover the process that produces strong hair growth. In so doing, I believed that if she has done it, then I can do it too – and I can do it even better.

As time passed, I learned enough information on health and nutrition to allow me to conduct meaningful tests involving diet, exercise, and supplementation routines that confirmed which ones are hair growth enablers. During the process of conducting many tests, I remember there were trying times when I seemed to be up against a dead end. During those trying times, I would think about the woman in Pennsylvania that already figured it all out. So I knew the trying moments were surmountable if I just persevered.

It was about 30 years after I heard about this woman in Pennsylvania that claimed to have a hair growth plan that I published my book titled, “HealthAnalysis Hair Growth System (HGS).” My book is posted on my website, HealthAnalysis.com. I invite those of you interested in learning how strong hair growth is good for your health as well as your image to visit my website and read my book.

If anyone of my Blog readers happens to recall the name of the woman in Pennsylvania with the hair growth plan, feel free to forward what information you may have about her to me in a Comment.

I met a fellow about 2 months ago that has a great head of hair. He is just a few years younger than me. I mentioned to him that I was interested in learning more about his lifestyle because I wrote a book that provides a health plan that promotes the growth and maintenance of a full head of hair including the re-growth of lost hair.

I was laying the groundwork for future follow-on discussions with him so I can learn what specific lifestyle habits are attributed to his full head of hair at his advanced age. As with others with great hairlines that I have interviewed, I was expecting to confirm the lifestyle habits that I have determined to provide for strong, healthy hair growth. Unfortunately, this well meaning story ends here.

As it turns out, I learned a few weeks later that his full head of hair was due to an expensive hair piece. Not only was his hair piece expensive but his hair cuts are also expensive. I have to admit that his hair piece and hair cuts are so well done that I could not tell his hair was not his. In spite of the fact that I have been observing heads for many years and can usually spot a hair piece, this time I was completely fooled.

So why am I writing about someone with a good looking hair piece? Because a hair piece does nothing other than make your head look good. It especially does nothing for you health-wise. However, for a fraction of the cost of one of his expensive hair cuts, he can purchase my book on hair growth on my website, follow my plan, and begin re-growing a full head of hair naturally.

The readers of my book that follow my plan will begin to grow and maintain a full head of hair as well as reap the benefits of healthy lifestyle changes that will reverse the other signs of aging. From healthier looking skin, to hair regaining its natural color and joints experiencing increased flexibility, my book provides an affordable approach to a healthy lifestyle that reverses the aging indicators, improves the quality of life, and grows and maintains a full head of hair.

For my Blog readers that need more hair but are not interested in putting forth the effort to stay healthy, the expensive hair piece is an option. However, I believe my approach to hair growth is a better choice for more natural looking hair with the added benefit of a healthier life. For information on my book titled, “HealthAnalysis Hair Growth System (HGS),” visit HealthAnalysis.com.

This Blog is for my readers that believe they are having problems controlling their weight. I received the request for weight control information from Courtney who believes she is a little overweight. What I saw when my family and I met Courtney was an attractive young lady that is experiencing normal weight swings. This is where many of us are. We are concerned that our temporary weight increases may spiral out of control producing weight gain year after year that would be difficult to turn around.

There are several ways of managing your weight. There are many books on the subject at your local book stores. Some of the books focus on out-of-balance diets while others on unrealistic exercise programs, and so on. I prefer instead to identify food excesses and highlight increases in level of activity that make it reasonably easy to achieve weight loss and weight control.

The excesses come in the form of extra calories that are not needed to achieve a healthy lifestyle. High sugar and fat items such as cookies, pastries, pies, cakes, high fat meats, oils and butter, and egg yolks, need to be minimized or avoided all together.

To lose or maintain weight, I also recommend exercise. To burn more calories, you will need to increase your level of activity. When most people think of increasing their level of activity, they immediately think of exercises such as jogging and weight training. However, there are many daily activities that can significantly increase your level of activity. These are vacuuming your house, washing/waxing your car, and walking. The Metabolic Calculator (Calculator) on my website provides the Site Visitor with the ability to calculate and thereby manage their level of activity. The Calculator levels of activity range from Level 1 (L1) to Level 19 (L19). A good beginning for many of the Site Visitors is at L3 or L4 then work your way up to higher levels that meet your weight setting goals.

L3 includes but is not limited to walking, vacuuming, and washing the car. One hour a day of either one or combination of these activities will increase your caloric burn rate by 1 calorie per pound of weight. I weigh 190 pounds. What this means is that when I walk for 1 hour, I will burn an extra 190 calories on that day.

Putting it all together: I can burn close to 380 calories a day by increasing my level of activity to an average of 14.0 calories per pound. At this increased level of activity, I will lose 1 pound of weight in a little over a week. This may not seem like a lot. But consider what a pound of fat looks like when placed on a table. It is a lot. When I reduce or eliminate cookies, pastries, cakes, and pies from my diet and lower my intake of butter, mayo, and other oils, I can reduce my caloric intake by another roughly 400 calories. A total eliminattion of 780 calories per day will lower my weight by almost 2 pounds every week.

This is a simplified look at what changes in diet and level of activity can do to help you manage your weight. However, it clearly shows how the combination of dietary changes in combination with increased level of activity makes it easier to accomplish weight management.

So don’t wait. Get started today eating fewer sweets and fats and begin an exercise program that at a minimum includes walking to maintain a trim and fit body at the weight of your choosing.

I am writing this Blog for Kyle who I had the pleasure of meeting on Friday, October 9, 2009 at Busch Gardens – Europe in Williamsburg, Virginia. Kyle was having trouble sitting with his legs still for extended periods of time. I shared with Kyle that I have had that problem in the past, and that I will write a Blog explaining how I resolved it. The information that I am about to present should also be helpful to many of you who have Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS).

RLS can result from muscle twitches or joint inflammation. Both manifestations of RLS are due to less than best diet practices. When I experienced the problem, I would take extra calcium – about 250mg. The improvement would be virtually immediate if the problem was due to muscle twitches. If that did not take care of the problem, then I would focus on my food choices. Red meat and dairy can cause inflammation in the body, so I would reduce my intake of both. Within a period of a few days, my RLS would gradually improve and go away entirely.

It goes without saying that RLS can get more complex with age. For older individuals, stress and the resulting increase in the quantity of food needed to satisfy hunger makes the list of lifestyle changes that can correct the problem more numerous. As for Kyle, he has his youth on his side. The solution to his RLS is fairly straightforward. Kyle should try taking a 250mg tablet every evening for a few days to see if his RLS goes away. However, if Kyle is already eating lots of pizza, burgers, and milk products (cheese, yogurt, etc.), then he should cut back on his red meat and dairy intake.

If this all sounds over simplistic, it’s because it is that simple. It is the protocol that has worked for me. And it has worked for others that experienced RLS and have followed my recommendations.

I am working on completing an eBook on arthritis and how to stop arthritis pain and reverse its effects naturally. It is part of a series of books that I am writing that focus on reversing aging indicators. If I can help you reverse the health indicators that are associated with aging (hair loss, hair graying, arthritis, etc.), then I have helped you effectively reverse aging. My first eBook on reversing aging is titled, “HealthAnalysis Hair Growth System.” It is currently posted on my website www.HealthAnalysis.com.

Kyle: I cannot overstate the importance of getting to the root cause of your RLS. Allowing RLS to continue without making the dietary changes that correct the problem will eventually lead to arthritis pain that will negatively impact the quality of your life. So it is important that you seek the professional advice of your doctor for a proper diagnosis as well as trying the dietary changes that worked well for me.

If you try the recommendations I have made to correct RLS, do forward a Comment to me to let me know how well it worked for you.

Yes, Aspirin is a wonder drug. It has helped millions of people eliminate headaches and lower body temperatures due to fever for decades. The use of Aspirin in these instances is short term and is in keeping with its original intended use. For the past 2 decades however, doctors have been prescribing Aspirin as a long term therapy for patients that are at high risk of heart disease to lower their risk of the disease. This long term use of Aspirin is a departure from its original use and raises health issues due to how Aspirin works in the body.

Aspirin suppresses the production of hormone-like substances that are important for the healthy functioning of the organs of the body. Deprive the organs of these hormone-like substances and there is an increase in cellular damage with a corresponding increase in the production of cancer cells. This is not a good situation.

There is no question that the long term use of Aspirin is important for people with a high risk of heart disease. Aspirin has and will continue to prevent their premature death. However, due to the role of Aspirin having expanded to include its long term use to lower patients risk of heart disease, healthy lifestyle choices become an important adage to your daily routine. By combining healthy lifestyle choices with the long term use of Aspirin, you can mitigate the increased risk of cancer with a stronger immune system response.

By the way, there is another way to thin the blood without the use of Aspirin. Switch to more whole grains, fruits and vegetables, reduce your intake of red meat and dairy, and exercise on a regular basis and your blood will thin naturally.

You need to know what it takes to keep you healthy and what it takes to turn around a serious illness like cancer. The good news is it can be done via healthy lifestyle choices. The bad news is it takes time. It takes time to turn around the illness, and it also takes time to learn which healthy lifestyle choices work best for you. The time to learn this is not after you are informed that you are sick. The sooner you learn how to apply healthy lifestyle principles to your life, the quicker you will get into the habit of putting the principles into practice every day.

I have 2 friends that became very ill in the past 1-2 years. One had cancer, and the other a degenerative nerve problem that is rendering him paralyzed. As I provided them with healthy lifestyle choices that could make a difference in how they feel - and possibly turn their illnesses around so they can get healed - I realized that they were also receiving health information from other well meaning friends. So who are they to believe? The answer is no one. They were both too emotionally involved with the consequences of their illnesses to make decisions based on too little health knowledge. In other words, they did not know who to believe or what to do because of lack of knowledge in that area of their lives.

My recommendation to all of my Blog readers is to get started now learning about health and nutrition so you don’t get to experience serious health issues. And if you do, you will know exactly how to analyze your situation and make the changes necessary for you to get healed. The opportunity to begin the healing process is during the short window of time that doctors take to do their own analysis and review blood work numbers. However, once a doctor decides to take aggressive action with drugs and/or surgery, you will need to follow your doctor’s advice. But, if you can turn blood work numbers around during the window of opportunity, you can postpone or avert the use of drugs or the operating table.

So do continue to read my Blogs and let friends and acquaintences know about my website http://www.HealthAnalysis.com. I will continue to do everything I can to help my readers become knowledgeable in the area of health and nutrition and making healthy lifestyle choices. As you become more knowledgeable, you will be able to make the right choices to stay healthy. And in the event you happen to become ill you will know what steps to take to get healed.

By the way, the friend with cancer had the cancer surgically removed and is now very focused on making the best lifestyle choices possible. The friend with a deteriorating nerve disease is not doing well.
